| During menopause a woman's levels of estrogen and progesterone drastically change, causing discomforting symptoms such as hot flashes, vaginal dryness and depression. The hormone imbalance of menopause could lead to heart disease and osteoporosis. Pro-G-Yam is a fragrance-free moisturizing progesterone cream made to soothe the symptoms and problems of menopause. Progesterone is a hormone made by the ovaries during the menstrual cycle. Progesterone has many important roles in the body such as balancing estrogen, preventing depression and helping to build bone and use fat for energy. During menopause progesterone levels drop drastically, causing symptoms such as depression, hot flashes and vaginal dryness. By taking a progesterone supplement, these symptoms are reduced. Another benefit found during studies is that taking a progesterone supplement can prevent osteoporosis. The progesterone in Pro-G-Yam is not synthetic progestin which can have negative side effects. This progesterone can not be taken orally because the stomach acids destroy it before it enters the blood stream. The progesterone in Pro-G-Yam is in a cream form so it can be absorbed into the blood stream through the skin. Wild Yam Extract does not contain progesterone, but it does contain diosgenin, a precursor to the hormone progesterone. Diosgenin is similar chemically to progesterone and acts as a mild form of the hormone. Wild yams can help to balance the hormones during menopause, relieving many of the symptoms. Vitamin E has shown to relieve the hot flashes, breast tenderness and vaginal dryness of menopause. Also, studies show that people taking vitamin E greatly reduce their risk of heart disease. Vitamin E is an antioxidant protecting the body from free radical damage that is said to be the cause of aging. Siberian ginseng extract is an adaptogen, ' balancing the functions of the body and helping it I adapt to stresses. In one study women suffering from the first stages of menopause took ginseng and had an increase in estrogen which eliminated their need for hormone shots. Chamomile extract acts as a sedative, relaxing the nerves. It stimulates the immune and circulatory systems. Glycerin is a natural by-product of the digestion of vegetable or animal fats. It is non-toxic and promotes and adds to the body's own oils, making the skin moist and soft. Aloe vera gel has long been used for it's healing and moisturizing properties. Aloe vera fights bacteria, virus and fungus. Safflower Oil is used regularly in China on the skin to reduce inflammation. It contains many essential fatty acids. Almond Oil is used as an emulsion. It contains 50% fatty oil, proteins, enzymes and vitamins. Jojoba Oil improves the health of the skin by helping acne and dryness. Avocado Oil contains large amounts of lipids (about 30%) and many vitamins. It is used to soften and liven the skin. Pro-G-Yam also contains deionized water, glycerly sterate, PEG-100 stearate, stearic acid, triethanolamine, octyl palmintate, diazolidinyl urea, carbomer, dimethicone, methylparaben, and propylparaben, to maintain the consistency of the product. It is suggested to apply 1/4 teaspoon of Pro-G Yam to soft regions of the body (such as the upper arms, inner thighs, and belly) once or twice daily. Apply to a different area each day.
